Similar to the cognitive domain, multiple taxonomies are available for the psychomotor domain. One example is Simpson’s psychomotor domain, developed in 1972), a 6-tier hierarchical model. The taxonomy includes physical movement, coordination, and use of the motor-skill areas. Demonstrated skills may involve fine motor skills through coordination, manipulation, grace, strength, or speed or may involve gross motor skills. To develop these skills requires practice and is measured in terms of speed, precision, distance, procedures, or techniques. Thus, psychomotor skills range from manual tasks to more complex tasks.
Also, similar to Bloom’s taxonomy, specific verbs are often associated with different levels of Simpson’s taxonomy and can be utilized as measurable verbs in a learning objective.
